Temple Removals UK Service Terms and Conditions

Temple Removals moving service terms and conditions introductionThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Temple Removals provides removal, transportation, packing, loading, unloading, and related moving services within the United Kingdom. By requesting a booking, confirming an estimate, or allowing our team to begin work, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms. These conditions are intended to create a clear understanding of what is included in the service, how charges are applied, and what responsibilities each party holds during the course of a house move, office move, flat move, or other domestic or commercial removal service.

The contract between Temple Removals and the customer applies only to the services described in the written quotation, booking confirmation, or agreed service schedule. Any variation to the original scope, including changes in volume, access, distance, timing, or special handling requirements, may affect the price and availability of the service. The customer is responsible for reading these terms carefully before placing a booking. If anything is unclear, the customer should request clarification before the move date so that expectations remain consistent and practical arrangements can be made in advance.

These terms are designed for use with our standard removal services, including partial-load and full-load moves, furniture handling, packing assistance, and associated transport arrangements. They do not replace statutory rights that may apply under UK law, and they should be read alongside any specific written agreement issued for a particular booking. Where a conflict arises between a written quotation and these terms, the written quotation will take priority in relation to the specific service details agreed for that job.

1. Booking Process

To secure a booking with Temple Removals, the customer must provide accurate and complete information about the move. This includes the collection and delivery addresses, the type and approximate quantity of items, access conditions, parking considerations, property layout, and any items requiring specialist handling. A quotation may be based on the information provided at the time of enquiry, and the final service price may be adjusted if the actual move differs materially from the details supplied. A booking is not confirmed until it has been accepted by Temple Removals and any required deposit or advance payment has been received.

The customer agrees to ensure that all information supplied is true, complete, and not misleading. If the move involves narrow stairways, lift restrictions, long carrying distances, limited parking, shared access, or other obstacles, these must be disclosed in advance. Failure to provide accurate details may result in additional charges, delays, a revised timetable, or in some cases refusal to complete the service where the conditions are unsafe or materially different from those agreed. Temple Removals may also decline a booking where the customer requests a service outside our normal operational capacity.

Any booking request is subject to availability and operational checks. Confirmation may be communicated by written acceptance, invoice, email acknowledgment, or other clear form of agreement. The customer should review the booking details immediately upon receipt and notify Temple Removals of any errors. It is the customer’s responsibility to confirm that the date, time, addresses, and service scope are correct. A booking may include optional services such as packing materials, dismantling, reassembly, or storage coordination, but these must be expressly agreed in writing to form part of the contract.

2. Payments and Charges

Prices for Temple Removals services are generally based on one or more of the following: hourly rate, fixed quotation, volume of goods, distance, number of staff, vehicle size, special handling requirements, and any additional services requested by the customer. Unless stated otherwise, quotations are based on standard working conditions and on the assumptions provided at the time of the estimate. Any variation caused by inaccurate information, exceptional access, waiting time, or extra labour may lead to extra charges. All prices are stated in pounds sterling and, where relevant, may be subject to applicable taxes.

Payment terms will be set out in the quotation or invoice. Temple Removals may require a deposit or part-payment to secure the booking, with the balance payable on or before completion of the service, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The company reserves the right to suspend or refuse work if payment is overdue or if there is reason to believe that payment will not be made. Where payment is taken by bank transfer, card, or other approved method, the customer must ensure that sufficient funds are available and that payment details are entered correctly.

Additional charges may apply for waiting time, difficult access, long carry distances, congestion, parking restrictions, ferrying items between levels, handling unusually heavy or fragile goods, or services requested on the day that fall outside the agreed scope. If delays occur because the customer is not ready for collection or delivery at the agreed time, Temple Removals may charge for idle time or rescheduling. In the event of late payment, the company may charge reasonable recovery costs and any interest permitted by law on overdue sums.

3. Cancellations, Amendments, and Postponements

If the customer wishes to cancel or amend a booking, notice must be given as early as possible. Temple Removals will try to accommodate reasonable changes, but any amendment is subject to availability and may change the price or the timetable. Cancellations made shortly before the move date may result in the loss of all or part of any deposit paid, especially where staff, vehicles, or subcontracted resources have already been allocated. The amount retained or charged will reflect the timing of the cancellation and the costs reasonably incurred by the company.

If the customer is unable to proceed on the scheduled date because access is unavailable, keys are not released, completion of sale has been delayed, or the property is not ready, the booking may be treated as a late cancellation or postponement. Temple Removals may charge for wasted attendance, waiting time, or the cost of rebooking vehicles and staff. Where a customer requests a new date, the revised booking will be subject to availability and may require an updated quotation if market rates or operational circumstances have changed.

Temple Removals may cancel or postpone a booking where unavoidable circumstances arise, including vehicle breakdown, severe weather, staff illness, traffic disruption, or other events outside reasonable control. If this occurs, the company will notify the customer as soon as reasonably possible and seek to offer a revised date or alternative arrangement. Except where the law requires otherwise, Temple Removals will not be liable for indirect losses caused by a cancellation or delay arising from events beyond its control.

Customer Responsibilities Before Cancellation Takes Effect

The customer should ensure that any cancellation request is made in writing or by another traceable method agreed between the parties. The cancellation will take effect only once received by Temple Removals. If valuables, sensitive documents, or perishable items are included in the move, the customer must make suitable arrangements for their protection if the service is delayed or cancelled. The company accepts no responsibility for losses arising from failure to secure such items after notice of cancellation has been given.

4. Liability and Limitations

Temple Removals will exercise reasonable care and skill in providing its house removal and related services. However, the customer acknowledges that moving property involves inherent risks, particularly where items are fragile, heavy, valuable, old, or improperly packed. The customer is responsible for declaring any item that requires special handling, insurance consideration, or careful disassembly. Unless Temple Removals has agreed in writing to pack items, the company is not responsible for damage caused by inadequate packaging, pre-existing weakness, or hidden defects in the goods.

The company’s liability for loss or damage will be limited to direct loss that is a foreseeable result of breach of contract or negligence and, where applicable, to the amount recoverable under any agreed insurance or statutory framework. Temple Removals will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of opportunity, emotional distress, or delay-related costs, unless such liability cannot be excluded by law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

The customer must protect floors, walls, staircases, door frames, and other surfaces if they wish to take additional precautions beyond ordinary care, unless the quotation specifically includes protective measures. Temple Removals will not be responsible for pre-existing marks, defects, instability, or structural issues in the property, nor for damage caused by items that are overfilled, unmarked, improperly secured, or unsuitable for transport. Where assembly or disassembly is carried out, the customer accepts that some items may not be suitable for repeated dismantling without risk of wear or future instability.

5. Waste Regulations and Prohibited Items

Payment and booking terms for a UK removals companyTemple Removals operates in accordance with applicable UK waste regulations where waste removal, disposal, or clearance services are included. The customer must not place prohibited, hazardous, or unlabelled materials among items to be moved unless this has been declared in advance and expressly accepted by the company. Prohibited items may include asbestos, chemicals, oils, solvents, gas cylinders, clinical waste, batteries requiring specialist disposal, contaminated goods, and any item that is unlawful to transport without specific arrangements. The customer remains responsible for identifying any such materials before the service begins.

Where Temple Removals agrees to remove waste or unwanted items, the customer warrants that the waste is accurately described and that no hazardous substance is concealed within the load. The company may refuse to handle any item that it reasonably believes poses a risk to health, safety, property, or lawful disposal. If waste is incorrectly described or is mixed with general household contents, the company may charge additional fees, separate the items, or suspend the service. Any disposal activity will be carried out in a lawful and responsible manner, using approved processes where required.

The customer must not request Temple Removals to carry goods that are illegal to possess, transport, export, or dispose of. If a job includes clearance of furniture, packaging, or unwanted household goods, the customer should make clear whether items are to be retained, donated, recycled, or discarded. Where relevant, the customer agrees that title to waste transfers only when lawful disposal is arranged and accepted. The company may request proof of ownership, property authority, or other reasonable evidence before removing goods from premises where doubt exists about entitlement to dispose of them.

6. Customer Duties on the Day of the Move

Customer duties and liability in a home removal serviceThe customer must ensure that the premises are reasonably prepared for the move. This includes providing safe access, arranging parking where possible, securing pets, isolating hazards, and ensuring that items to be moved are ready for loading unless packing has been agreed as part of the service. Children and vulnerable persons should be supervised appropriately during the operation. If the customer asks Temple Removals to move items that have not been listed in the booking, the company may decline, charge extra, or rearrange the work if the addition would create delays or safety concerns.

The customer should remove personal, confidential, or high-value items from cabinets, drawers, and boxes unless the service specifically includes packing and inventory control. Temple Removals will not be responsible for missing items not declared or for cash, jewellery, passports, deeds, digital devices, or other high-risk possessions left unsecured. If the customer elects to travel separately from the removal vehicle, they must ensure that all instructions are given clearly before departure so that delivery, key handover, and placement of goods can be completed efficiently and accurately.

Where the customer or their representative is absent at collection or delivery, any instructions left in writing must be unambiguous and practical. Temple Removals may rely on those instructions and will not be liable for errors resulting from unclear or incomplete directions. If the customer asks the team to place items in specific rooms or positions, the customer accepts responsibility for indicating the correct destination and for removing obstacles. Once items have been delivered and unloaded according to the agreed instructions, the service will be considered complete unless a written exception applies.

7. Force Majeure and Service Delays

Temple Removals is not responsible for failure or delay caused by events outside its reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, accidents, strikes, civil disruption, emergency situations, mechanical breakdown not caused by neglect, or government restrictions. In such circumstances the company may reschedule the booking, alter the order of jobs, or modify routes and timings as necessary. The customer agrees that reasonable delays caused by external events do not of themselves constitute a breach of contract.

Where a delay arises, Temple Removals will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption and continue the service when conditions permit. The customer must cooperate by remaining available for communication, maintaining access arrangements, and agreeing any necessary alternative timing. If a delay means the work cannot be completed on the original day, the company may arrange completion on a later date and may charge only for work already performed, unless the delay is attributable to the customer or persons under the customer’s control.

The company may subcontract elements of a job where necessary to complete the service safely and efficiently, provided that the overall standard remains consistent with these terms. Any subcontractor used will be engaged to perform part of the service on behalf of Temple Removals and not as a direct contract with the customer, unless otherwise stated in writing. All reasonable care will be taken in selection and coordination, but the customer understands that operational flexibility may be required.

8. Governing Law and General Provisions

Governing law and general provisions for Temple RemovalsThese Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising from them or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales unless another part of the United Kingdom law applies by mandatory legal rule. The parties agree that the courts of the relevant jurisdiction will have authority to determine any dispute that cannot be resolved through mutual discussion. If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

No waiver by Temple Removals of any breach or failure by the customer will operate as a waiver of any later breach. Any variation to these terms must be agreed in writing. The customer may not assign the contract without the company’s consent, but Temple Removals may transfer or subcontract its rights and obligations where reasonably required to deliver the service. These terms form the entire agreement between the parties in relation to the service, subject to any written quotation or mandatory statutory right.

Final section of UK removals terms and conditionsBy proceeding with a booking, the customer confirms that they have the authority to instruct the move, that they accept responsibility for the accuracy of the information supplied, and that they agree to the terms governing Temple Removals services. These provisions are intended to support a fair and transparent removal arrangement, balancing the needs of the customer with the operational requirements of a professional moving service. If a further written agreement is provided for a specific job, that agreement will apply alongside these terms where consistent and lawful.
